Day 4

Today was better than yesterday. Almost...

Breakfast:
  • 2 slices of turkey bacon
Lunch:
  • Mixed Vegetables with 1 oz of Havarati Dill Cheese
  • Butter Roasted Chicken

Snack:
  • Low Carb Coconut Bread - I made it.
Dinner:
  • Spicy Breaded Chicken Patty
  • Sautéed Spinach with Roasted Garlic
Overall Rating: B+

When I woke up this morning, I wasn't very hungry. I decided to have turkey bacon because I really didn't feel like I wanted a big breakfast. The diet claims that your hunger does go down. Maybe that is what is happening. Right before lunch, I was craving something sweet so I decided to make a low carb coconut bread. I am not sure if it is allowed on the diet. I went to the website to ask customer service but their status was AWAY. Usually they are there every time I have a question. I decided to go ahead and make the bread without consulting them. I ate that as a snack after lunch. For lunch I had the frozen mixed vegetables. It wasn't bad once I added havarati dill cheese. The butter roasted chicken was disgusting. It tasted like a rubber chicken. For dinner, I warmed up the spicy breaded chicken. It tasted like the buffalo chicken sticks. Instead of having the gross frozen vegetables, I sautéed some spinach with roasted garlic. It was yummy. I did not get in all my water. I am 2 glasses short. I did get in 20 minutes of walking. All in all, not a bad day.

Day 3 - Not a good day :(

Today I did not follow the personal diet plan. This is what I had:

Breakfast:
  • Premier Vanilla Protein Drink
Lunch:
  • P.F. Changs Miso Salmon with bok choy - no rice
  • 1 lettuce wrap
  • 1 bite of chocolate cake
Snack:
  • String Cheese Stick
Dinner:
  • Frozen Zucchini (I fried it. I was so sick of the frozen crap.)
  • Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sticks

Overall Rating C

I broke many rules of the diet today. Unfortunately, I just could not make myself eat another egg. I grabbed a low carb protein drink instead. The diet specifically tells you not to drink protein drinks. I couldn't help myself. I went out for lunch today. My co-workers insisted that they take me out for lunch for my birthday (my birthday was Feb. 14th). I chose P.F. Changs because I knew I would be able to eat low-carb, high protein. I ordered the Miso Salmon. I asked for double vegetables and no rice. I also had a lettuce wrap. They got me a chocolate cake. I told them I couldn't but then I felt bad and took one bite. I know the diet specifically says that having even 1 bite puts you back 2-4 days. Oh well. For dinner, I had the Personal Trainer Food. I was so sick of the frozen veggies that I fried the zucchini and made yummy zucchini chips! The buffalo ranch chicken sticks didn't taste as good as the first day. There was a lot of cartilage in the sticks that grossed me out. I don't feel like eating them anymore! I drank all my water and walked for 25 minutes today. Got in over 6500 steps. I still feel lighter and feel like my tummy is flatter!

Day 2

Today was Day 2 of the diet. It was a lot harder than yesterday because I was dying for something sweet and full of carbs but I stuck to it. This is what I had:

Breakfast:
  • 2 eggs, scrambled
  • 2 strips of turkey bacon
Snack:
  • 1.5 oz Smoked Almonds
Lunch:
  • Frozen Broccoli
  • Bacon and Cheese Chicken Sticks
Snack:
  • 1.5 oz Smoked Almonds
Dinner:
  • Frozen Cauliflower
  • Frozen Meatballs
Overall Rating B+

I had eggs again for breakfast. I know this is going to get old very soon for me so I will have to think of creative ideas for breakfast. I can only eat eggs for 2-3 days a week max! For lunch I had chicken sticks and they were yummy. I don't know what to do about the veggies because I hate frozen veggies. I added some butter and lemon pepper to the broccoli to make it taste better. For dinner, I had enough with the frozen veggies, so I decided to make a cauliflower puree. After I warmed it up in the microwave, I put it in the blender. I pureed it with some beef stock, a pat of butter, salt and pepper. It was almost like mock mashed potatoes. The meatballs were ok. Hence the B+ rating. I hate meatballs coming out of a microwave. They were dry and gritty. Maybe next time I will pan fry them to give it a better texture. I did walk for 20 minutes and got 6500 steps in. I also drank my 8 glasses of water. All in all, a good day.

Day 1

Today I started the Personal Trainer Food diet. This is what I had:

Breakfast:(This is on my own. I did not purchase any breakfasts on this plan)
  • Veggie Egg Scramble = 2 eggs with sautéed spinach, onions and bell peppers. Sautéed with butter.
  • 1 oz. cheddar cheese
  • 2 strips turkey bacon
Snack: (This is on my own. I did not purchase snacks)
  • 1.5 oz of smoked almonds
Lunch:
  • Frozen Brussel Sprouts
  • Frozen Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sticks
  • Sweet garlic vegetable sauce
Dinner:
  • Frozen Broccoli
  • Frozen Smoked Brisket
  • 1 oz of cheddar cheese
  • Sweet garlic vegetable sauce

Overall Rating: A-

I did like the taste of the food. The Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sticks taste like Tyson Buffalo Chicken Strips. The Smoked Brisket was kind of fatty but not bad. The frozen veggies are just that... frozen veggies. I have to jazz it up with spices to make it more palatable. I tried the sweet garlic vegetable sauce that comes with the plan. It was ok. I think tomorrow I might try using lemon pepper seasoning or sauté it in fresh garlic. I also made sure to drink my water and get in 5000 steps for the day. They suggest getting in 10-15 minutes of walking per day or 5000 steps.

I am going through major sugar withdrawals. I would kill for a Kit Kat or some cake but I know it takes 3-4 days to get over the sugar cravings. My stomach does feel flatter. I know it is only 1 day but I honestly feel like my clothes are fitting better. I don't plan on weighing myself. They tell you not to weigh yourself. I might after the 1st week to see if I lost any weight. Hopefully day 2 will be just as good as day 1. As long as I can get over my love affair with desserts!

Customer Service

So far I am loving the customer service! I love the fact that I can go on the website and have a chat with a customer service rep AND they seem to know what they are talking about. I have been on customer service chats where you can tell they are reading something or they need to find out. The reps here seem to know what they are talking about. I had two questions. The instructions that came with the food were a little confusing. It says not to have any fruits until you reach your goal weight but then on another paper it says you can have an apple a day. The customer rep told me that I can have 1 apple a day but that was the only fruit allowed. Then I asked about protein shakes. They recommend not having protein shakes. I was planning on having a protein shake for breakfast. They advise against it saying that protein shakes usually have hidden sugars that prevent weight loss. Good to know. Now I need to figure out when I am going to have for breakfast!

Pre - Diet

I finally did it! I decided to purchase the Groupon for Personal Trainer Food. I went to the website http://www.personaltrainerfood.com/ and purchased 28 lunches and 28 dinners. I decided to prepare breakfast and snacks on my own. I liked the idea of the diet since it is low carb but included veggies. Personally, I lose weight when it is low carb but I feel healthier when veggies are incorporated in my diet. To give some background, I am 5 ft tall and I have about 50 pounds to lose. I lost 50 pounds in the last 2 years but I have stalled. I know low carb is the only diet that works for me. Unfortunately, it is hard to stick to low carb when I have a vegan husband and two kids to cook for.

I received the box today. It weighed 48 pounds! I was a little irritated because the dry ice bag was open and leaked all over the food. I counted 57 vegetable and 58 meats. I am supposed to get 56 of each. I am not complaining. I am hoping the extras are of food I like.

You really need to clean out your freezer in order for the food to fit. Luckily I have an extra freezer and I was able to fit everything in.

I am thinking about doing the 24-48 hours fast prior to starting the diet. I don't plan on starting the diet until after Valentine's Day. My hubbie is taking me out to the French Room for V-Day and I plan to eat dessert! I will post about my first day once I begin my diet. I am not sure if I will start on the weekend or wait until Monday to start. I hope I am able to keep up with this diet! I really want to lose the last 50!
